VR/AR Block Week in Krems

In March 2024 the VR/AR block week took place in IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences in Krems, Austria as part of the Erasmus+ BIP funding in which the students of the international master’s programs from three different universities took part. Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (FH Dortmund) also contributed to the Block Week. Prof. Dr. Christian Reimann from the Faculty of Computer Science in FH Dortmund gave the presentation on “Virtual and Augmented Reality Applications”. Together with professors Elena Vitkauskaitė from Kaunas University of Technology and Michael Reiner from IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences, they were mentoring and guiding the student teams during the project work activities, providing them with necessary theory and inspiring for the solutions.

During the block week students from different countries were able to collaborate with each other, working on one challenge – the prototype of VR/AR solutions for the local winery Winzer Krems – Sandgrube 13. As part of the programme, students visited the winery and got to know about the business, internal processes and products. Their task was to develop the solution to integrate innovative technologies such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Extended Reality into the daily business of the winery. Divided into five teams, students brainstormed about the possible applications and at the end each of the team focused on the solution that they found the best and brought it to the working prototype.

The final applications were presented in front of the board of professors and wine company representatives.
