Some highlights from RMS Summer School

How can mobility and mobility systems be steered towards sustainable paths? What infrastructure must be provided, e.g. with regards to cycling, charging, or sharing? How can technological innovations or a different organization of mobility contribute to sustainability?

These are just some of the questions addressed at this year`s international RMS Summer School from 15 to 26 August 2022, hosted by Westfaelische Hochschule University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

45 Master and Bachelor students from 15 countries attended the event and experienced an exciting programme, covering a groundbreaking topic in an international setting. Besides keynote speeches by experts from both academics and practice, the activities included discussions, workshops, group work in interdisciplinary teams, field trips, and networking. A cross-cultural connection workshop prepared the participants to tackle their group work task in international teams. During the days of the accompanying programme from 15 to 18 August 2022, local students supported the international guests in a buddy programme, organizing social events such as city trips, game nights, and sports nights.

RMS Summer School is a yearly event aiming to enable an intensive international and interdisciplinary exchange on a relevant topic of sustainability between experts and students from around the globe.

The Summer School 2022 was a joint offer of the RMS universities of applied sciences Fachhochschule Dortmund, Hochschule Bochum and Westfaelische Hochschule as well as Hochschulallianz Ruhr and InduTwin. The event was supported by Stiftung Mercator and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Foreign Office.
