The 7th International Conference on Design, Simulation, Manufacturing: The Innovation Exchange (DSMIE-2024) took place in Pilsen, Czech Republic on 4-7th of June 2024. DSMIE focuses on research challenges in the fields of Manufacturing Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, highlighting the growing role of smart manufacturing systems, artificial intelligence, standards-based integration, and innovations implementation to the transition to a sustainable, human-centric and resilient engineering solutions.
A lot of focus went on the more human-centered approaches in industry 5.0 and the needed for training staff towards digital skills to fit this future changes.
Peter Arras from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) and Galyna Tabunshchyk from Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (FH Dortmund) and National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic” (NU-ZP) presented their paper, entitles “Designing the Educational content for the Industry 4.0 Competency Model “. The paper describes the methodology with OpenCops and educational collaborative systems to come to a competency model for the M04 learning module on Industry 4.0.
The work was done in the ambit of the Erasmus+ KA2: Capacity Building in Higher Education “Cross-domain competences for healthy and safe work in the 21st century” (WORK4CE) and Erasmus+ KA2: Knowledge Alliance “Projects for the Digital Transformation” (ProDiT).
The conference also included workshops on AI and on Agile in an industrial context (outside of software development) in which the authors actively participated.
